Restorative Practices

Restorative Justice Practices Training & Philosophy

“Restorative Practices is founded on the belief that people will make positive change when those in authority do things with them rather than to them or for them.” IIRP

My expertise is in consulting, facilitating engaging, interactive trainings, follow up coaching and support for both school and corporate communities. My direct approach to the implementation of Restorative Justice Practices is to train leadership teams, teacher/staff cohorts to build capacity on their site. To empower site leadership, faculty and staff to create a sustainable restorative language/relationship within their school/work community which includes: reaching out to parents and community stakeholders. This amazing work starts with education and training. My trainings include the teaching of Restorative Justice Practices, framework and philosophy, real life stories, problem solving, research, hands-on collaborative learning activities, role playing and next steps for implementation. My passion is changing the lives of our young people and adults by building a restorative community in which to tell their story, to be heard with empathy and to contribute and move forward without shame.

As principal, assistant principal, dean, intervention/academic counselor and restorative justice practices consultant, I have had the opportunity to integrate restorative justice practices in numerous capacities. I am looking forward to working with teams utilizing the restorative justice practices lens for youth and adults!

Ms. Graf’s mentorship has impacted my teaching practice in a dramatic way - because of her I am a very different teacher today with more of a focus on building relationships and community.  My students are now at the center of everything I do, not my content, and consequently I am seeing more academic success with students than every before as I have shifted towards restorative practices.
